Built between 1982 and 1994 (depending on the market), this small and square style icon was the entry point to yuppie-dom for thousands—and for many more, it was their gateway to the pleasures of European driving dynamics.

BMW produced nearly 2.5 million units of the BMW E30 3-Series during its production run from 1982 to 1994. The E30 was sold in multiple body styles, including a 2-door sedan, a 4-door sedan, a station wagon, and a convertible.The previous generation of the 3-Series, the BMW E21, also had a convertible, but that was an iteration built by Baur.

Though the BMW 3 Series lineup, including the M3, is considered a family sedan today, the E30 comes from a time when the car was much more compact. BMW sold the car with cloth or leather sport seats and a simple interior with a three-spoke steering wheel. The front buckets are heavily bolstered for support during aggressive driving, and the car features a small but usable back seat.
